Life Over Debt

Life Over Debt is a national acampaign of the American Friends Service Committee, which highlights the need for immediate cancellation of Africa's debt. In partnership with the Jubilee USA Network, we add our voice to the millions around the globe who call: Drop The debt! Free Africa's Internal Resources to address the continent's crucial needs!

As we weork to cancel Africa's odious debt, it is important to celebrate recent victories: for the first time, 100 percent multlateral debt cancellation for the worl's poorest countries is being seriously considered by rich nations. Various proposals for how to finance succh debt canceellation have now been put on the table by the United States, United Kingdom, and others. Although some of these proposals do not include all indebted African countries, or are lacking fair and tranparent procedures, they indicate recognition among rich nations that current debt relief schemes are not working.
