THE IRAQ WAR/OCCUPATION COSTS CLEVELAND
The Iraq war and occupation has cost many Cleveland soldiers their lives and their health.
It costs the rest of us too – in social and economic services that are not provided or expanded
– services that create or maintain security to our families, neighborhoods and community
720 million US tax dollars are spent every single day on the Iraq war and occupation.
The war and occupation has cost Cleveland taxpayers so far over $426 million.
Here's what $426 million could be used for in Cleveland:
- 3,840 additional housing units
- 7,390 public school teachers for one year
- 20,674 4 year scholarships at public universities
- 56,487 children could attend Head Start for one year
- 255,376 children could have health insurance for 1 year
