The Ecumenical HIV/AIDS Network of Greater Cleveland hosted its “26 Years of HIV/AIDS is Enough” Program at the Glenville Community Resource Conference Center on Saturday February 3rd, 2007. The Red Hot Embers exhibit was a highlight of the program. Forty AIDS activists, clergy, and youth participated in the program.
The AIDS network is comprised of the Mt. Zion Congregational Church, UCC-, Mt. Cavalry Outreach Ministries, Foundation of Truth, Antioch Baptist Church and Church of the Nazarene. Debra Calhoun, AFSC staff, gave a presentation on the meaning of Red Hot Embers, and the necessity to link the struggle for understanding and supporting the emotional and medical needs of those who live with HIV/AIDs with the movement for social and economic justice. Free on-site AIDs testing was available, along with workshops for Pastors, youth, and health providers.
